Bumble Bee tutu

I decided that Ashlyn Kay needed to be a bumble bee for Halloween. So I bought some yellow and black tulle and I made her a tutu. I am pretty proud of myself. She looks super cute in it too. She will be wearing this tutu, a black onesie, black tights, yellow wings (which I ordered off of Etsy and they are yellow with black poof balls on them), and either a antenna or tulle hairbow. I am so excited! Jeff and I won't be here on Halloween, but Papa and BeBe will be. She is going to make her bumble bee appearance at our church Trunk or Treat. Will post pics of final outfit!

Strip Tease

Jeff & I normally wake up to Ashlyn Kay crying around 6:30 a.m. every morning. Yesterday (Sunday) we woke up at 8:30 a.m. to nothing. I was out like a log and obviously so was he. I frantically looked at the video monitor and there were no green or red lights flashing. IT WAS OFF! So I turned it on and of course screaming. Not crying but yelling. Some how the monitor had gotten cut off and she wasn't crying loud enough for us to hear her down the hall or we just were so tired and dead asleep we heard nothing. I went down to her room to find this...
a half naked baby standing up in her crib, blanket, lovie, minnie mouse, taggie dog, pillow, PANTS & DIAPER all on the floor. She was standing there yelling at me with just her top on. She had thrown all of her items out of the bed, ripped off her pants, ripped off her diaper and peed in the crib. WHAT THE HECK! I started dying laughing! I couldn't stop. If my camera had not gotten attacked by the rain the day before I would have for sure taken a picture. It was a classic moment to be documented. Oh the things this lady does!

Strep Throat is no joke

This week has been amazing!-NOT! Yes, I just brought back the 80's/90's. Ashlyn Kay started running a fever last Friday at my grandmother's. By Sunday she was not feeling well at all. Monday Jeff took her to the pediatrician. She had strep throat. What? I couldn't believe my little angel had strep throat. She also had a cold and is cutting her eye teeth. She was in bad shape. She has been so so sick and has basically cried for days on end. After making 3 trips to the pediatrician this week (they love us!) they discovered that because of her infection and multiple antibiotics that her reflux had returned. So finally after 2 antibiotics, tylenol, motrin, and now prevacid and carafete she is better. We are fever free and she is finally eating and drinking. My sweet Meme came and stayed this week and helped out. Thank Goodness! This was the sickest she has ever been in her short 14 months of life. I never want her to be this sick again!

Auburn Outfit & Weekend with BeBe & Poppa

Mommy took me took me to Georgia to spend the weekend with my Poppa & my Bebe. I had so much fun with them. Mommy bought me a new Auburn dress with matching bloomers & hairbow. I love it! When we went to Bebe's
school mommy let me wear my hippo backpack and Poppa pulled the lease. I love my backpack so much. We met all of her teacher friends and the principal. Then we left and went to eat Mexican. I love beans oh so much.
Saturday we went shopping and then I got to ride in the big girl cart and drive it at Publix. I had so much fun. I didn't like it when it would stop though, so I would shake it and then it would go. Yippee!
Sunday mommy, poppa, and bebe took me to Cracker Barrell. My new favorite place to eat! I ate pancakes. Man were they yummy. Hmmmm......! Then we went shopping and Poppa rode me around in my stroller all day. Oh so relaxing. After that I fell asleep. Yawn. We ate at my very, most favorite place in the whole world, Sticky Fingers. I had cheerios, chicken wings, french fries, and apples. I was so full and tired so I went to bed when we got home. Monday, mommy brought me home and I was so happy to see Doda and Fossi and Dadda.
I had a wonderful time in Georgia and can't wait to go back!

13 months

Ashlyn Kay is now 13 months old, well actually she is half way through this month too. She is growing so fast and like a weed. I thought I would just update all of you who don't see her very often on her newest tricks!

First off-we are a super runner now. She runs as fast as her little legs will carry her back and forth across the room (screaming of course)! She really likes to shout out every now and then. For those of you who know my sister, Kala, this should come as no surprise since AK is just like her Aunt Kala. Scary....

She can say...momma, dadda, poppa, de-da (kala), do-da (lola), bad dog (ha), doggie, turdle (turtle), tyega(tiger), and tankchu (thank you). I am so glad that I can interpret AK language. They def. didn't teach me this at Auburn. Of course her BeBe is pissed because there is no attempt at this one single most important word. Guess she is going to have to change her name to one of the words listed above.

She is getting so big and smart. When she gives you a kiss she always follows it with thank you. Which is so adorable and it melts your heart. She likes to pull her dress above her head and run around screaming-thanks Lynlee for that! She hates hair bows and every little girl who wears one. She is always trying to pull out the hair bows of the girls in the nursery at church and Cameron. She has become this walking-talking-screaming little person who is obviously not a baby anymore. So sad :( I miss the baby in her.

Ant Bites

So after the fun pictures of her playing in the water hose we realized she was eaten up with fireant bites. They looked very normal last night. This morning they looked pus filled and red and inflammed. We didn't think much because most antbites look that way. As the day continued on we realized that these antbites weren't getting better. Around 3 p.m. we decided to call the oncall nurse at our pediatrician. She was totally alarmed and told us to take her to the Children's Hospital E.R. Ok, so a little freaked out we took her down there. Sure enough she had some type of allergic reaction to the fireant venom. Which caused them to pus up and spread. The doc gave her a antibiotic and benadryl for the next 10 days. Obviously we have sensitive skin issues. Of course she didn't care and was playing, running, falling, and bouncing around like normal AK. What a trooper.

Water Hose Fun

So as I was cleaning off the patio with the waterhose, waiting on daddy to come..someone decided to play in the water. I thought she would get upset with it spraying her like that, but oh no..she wanted to drink it like a dog. Hilarious! She had the best time splashing around and trying to drink the water. She got soaked but couldn't have had more fun.

So funny thing happened on the way to work...

I am almost to work this morning. AK in back chatting away. I see a Homewood police officer come up behind me from nowhere. I actually, for once, wasn't speeding. Hehe! He turns on his lights and so I pull over. He walks over to the car and ask for my drivers license. Well, first off, I had to get out and open the trunk, dig through the diaper bag, and find my wallet. He laughs. On to our next task. He lets me know that my cartag is expired. I knew this of course and quickly pull out my new tag and my new sticker. I have had this tag since June. My father-in-law went and got my tag. He of course picks the ugliest tag there was. So in rebellion I decide to not put it on. He laughs when I tell him the story. As we are sitting here discussing this my daughter is in the back going, "Bye Bye". Over and over again. Waving of course too. He laughs again and let's us go. I see a future for AK and I getting out of many a ticket! Ha!

Birthday Party

Yesterday was Ashlyn Kay's birthday party at her Nana's house. We had such a great time! The weather was amazing and all of her friends (and mine & Jeff's) came by to celebrate. She, of course, didn't care about her smash cake. No interest. I mean whose child is she. NO CAKE! It was Edgars strawberry cake too. MMMmmmm....Good.
She ran around in the yard all day and pooped herself out. Her presents were great! She got everything from a radio flyer wagon to a talking duck (thanks Humphries-I will get you in December).

Happy, Happy Birthday Ashlyn Kay

Well...it has been a year full of funny memories and tons of change since Ashlyn Kay made her grand arrival. I was reading my very first couple of post and I can't believe its been 1 whole year since then. I just don't understand how time got away from me.

Today is Ashlyn Kay's 1st birthday. At 11:02 a.m. we officially welcomed our little precious angel into the world-red hair and all. She has been such a joy-I am so lucky. She was a great and easy baby and now is a hilarious and wild toddler. I love every minute though. She keeps me running and laughing. If the rest of her life is anything like the 1st year I have it made. No, really and truly I am the luckiest parent ever.

Her 1st birthday party is coming up this weekend. We have bought the dinnerware and decorations are almost done. I am so excited. Jeff and I have sort of turned it into a 1 year anniversary party for us too-as being parents and SURVIVING! It should be tons of fun and of course I will post pictures once its over.

Tonight her BeBe or as she is starting to refer to her as Deda (what the crap that is we don't know), Daddy, Uncle Squeak Squeak, Aunt Kala, Aunt Lynlee, & Uncle Grant will all be coming over for pizza and cupcakes. Should be fun. Can't have a birthday without cupcakes now can we?

Life as I know it changed forever on July 15, 2009 @ 11:02 a.m. Who would have thought it would have been the best change of my life! Happy Birthday Ashlyn Kay Moran. YOU ARE 1!

Family Beach Trip

We just got back from a wonderful family beach trip. This was Ashlyn Kay's first time on the beach. The first day we took her out there...she hated the sand. By the last night we took her out on the beach to have pictures made and she was better. Still not sure about walking on it. The ocean wasn't her friend either. I don't blame her though because it was a little cool. Now the pool-that was a score! She had the best time splashing and knocking around.

So I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to have one of those sweet prissy little thangs like I was. I am going to have this! As you can all see AK is trying to hurl herself over the top of her pack n play to get her pacifier inside. Jeff and I were standing there watching and looking at each other thinking, "This can not be good!" I believe we will be moving to a toddler bed shortly after her 1st birthday!

Ashlyn Kay is officially a walker-Scary! She started taking her first steps a week or so ago. She has gotten pretty good with her balance. I'm sure soon enough she will be running the 1/2 mile like her daddy. Olympics here we come! Ha!

AK & Cameron

Here are pics of Ashlyn Kay & Cameron (the sweet baby girl I keep). Ashlyn Kay kept grabbing her hands and trying to get her to play patty cake and dance. It was so, so cute. Cameron seems to enjoy it, well at least she doesn't cry when ashlyn kay accidently bomps her on the head. We are working really hard on "gentle".
Just a little update on the new adventures of AK. We are now officially walking. She doesn't walk very far, maybe 5 steps, then sits down or gets so excited she topples over. She is so big now. I imagine we will be running next time I blog.

AK's new house

Here is Ashlyn Kay having a blast in the doggie (Bernie's) cage. She plays with the gate all day long and today she decided to crawl inside and have a looksie!

Everything goes to the mouth...and I mean EVERYTHING

Today after AK was done with swim lessons we were getting dressed in the ladies locker room. I had taken off my wedding rings to put on our lotion. I accidently knocked them off when moving a towel. I looked down at the floor and little girl already had them in her hands. I picked them up and set them back on to the counter. I realized that I was missing my engagement ring. I started to panic a little. I looked high and low, under and over, inside and out of everything. One of the other swimmers moms started helping me look. For some strange reason I decided to check in Miss Priss's mouth. Sure enough there sat my engagement ring. She obviously thought it was a jolly rancher and was letting it sit and melt. WHAT THE CRAP! I almost had a pure heart attack right then and there. I mean not only could she have chocked on it but she could have swallowed it. I don't think J. Moran would appreciate sifting through poop to find my engagement ring. Actually I know it wouldn't have done it at all.

THEN....

Later on today we were in the nursery playing. I ran to the kitchen to grab my cell phone because someone was calling. When I got back I looked at her as she was playing with her travel suitcase my mother just got her for Easter. The tags were still on it. She was hacking a little but sometimes she does that. So we played for about another 15 minutes when I decided it was time for food. As I am holding her and walking she hacks up a whole tag. The WHOLE TAG. No pieces missing. I mean seriously. A round paper tag came out of her.

So for all you new moms and moms to be..know that they put everything in their mouth. Rings, tags, and all.

Swim Lessons

Ashlyn Kay is taking survival swim lessons. We did pretty good until time to dunk under the water. Not a fan! She can float by herself though-YAY! She goes again tomorrow. We will see how that goes.

Bad Dog!

Ok, so I know this isn't about the baby, but it is to funny to not share with everyone. As most of you know Foxy, the dog sleeps in the closet during the day. Normally this isn't an issue, she loves it in her little land of clothes, but here lately we have had a little issue with Miss Foxy Brown. I have come home to find my clothes pulled off the hanger and in to her bed. Also shoes and other sundry things cattered all over. This is insane. What the heck is she doing this for? I mean all of my clothes are being pulled literally off of their hangers by a 4 pound dog for no apparent reason. You decide what the heck is going on here!

Ashlyn Kay's Beautiful Baby Contest Picture

Hi everyone! My mother has entered me in the Regis and Kelley Beautiful Baby contest. I'm not sure why but she did. I guess she thinks I'm super cute. Which in this picture, aren't I? My mommy got me dressed up in my bunny coat, put me in my rocker, and made me take pictures all morning. It was sort of fun though. Well on March 9th at 9:00 am Regis and Kelley will announce if I'm in the top 10 beautiful babies. If I am then everyone will have to vote for me. Yay! I doubt I make the cut but here's hoping. Otherwise everyone just gets to look at my super cute picture.

Plop goes the milk

I had to tell everyone this. It was hilarious. Today I was out shopping with my sister, mother, AK, and myself. Since it was a little chilly we decided to stop off at Starbucks in Homewood. There weren't many people in there, but enough. We had gotten our coffee and a gigantic cookie (hmmm good) and were sitting down to enjoy it all. AK was hungry so I fed her a bottle and all was well. Since we were now done I decided to change her before heading back out. Mother picked her up out of her stroller and was passing her on to me. In a split second milk came from deep down inside her belly and out of her mouth right onto the tile floor of starbucks. Plop! That is literally the sound it make. I mean it shot out like a bullet. I just stood there in shock. I didn't know whether to run out of starbucks or fall out laughing. So as I bend over to wipe up her spit up I start laughing hysterically and can't stop laughing. The people sitting at the table near us were of course disgusted and turned their heads. I mean seriously it was pretty funny. I told my mother that it was a good thing that I don't get embarrassed. Life as a mother is never dull, not even at starbucks. HA!

So much time has passed

I know! I know! So much time has passed since I have blogged about sweet baby AshlynKay. Our computer has been broken, fixed, then broken again. So now its in computer heaven and I have a new sparkling and shiny one. YAY!



Let's see....what has gone on since I last posted. Well Christmas came and went. That was really fun though. Although she didn't really have a clue as to what everyone was doing staring at her, she enjoyed the attention. She also loves all of her new toys. Jeff and I did have to make a new rule though. Only 1-2 toys per set of grandparents or great-grandparents. She literally has 2 toy boxes full now. It is seriously ridiculous. Oh well I guess that is all part of it. I have a couple of pictures from Christmas Eve, but the others are still on my grandmother and mothers camera from actual Christmas Day. We had Christmas at our house this year. It was so nice to not have to travel anywhere. I definitely can not wait until next Christmas. What an adventure that will be.

She is now sitting up nice and tall. She looks so big when she is sitting up. We also have discovered that we love Baby Einstein videos. She sits in her pod and watches them over and over again. It is pretty nice. Oh, we also now cry when mommy leaves the room. It makes me so sad. She will hopefully get over that little phase soon. Hmm... what else.... Her little personality is shining through. She talks and laughs and smiles and really gets in to things. As the pediatrician calls her " A Wild Woman." Not too sure how that will work later on in life.

We are officially 6 months now and I can't believe it. Where in the world did 6 months go. Seriously does anyone know what happened here? I'm searching for time if anyone has seen it.

I'm now working part time and its perfect. I get to play with her on Wed. and Friday's and we have fun. I feel less stressed too so that is nice for everyone. I actually feel like I'm a part of her life instead of someone who drops her off and picks her up. I love it!

We have been sick a couple of times. Nothing major. She just got over a nasty stomach virus. That was great. Oh and of course we had to do a stool sample. So if you ever think your life is bad, wait until you have to scoop poop into a tiny bottle and take it around with you until you have time to take it to get analyzed. When you have a permanent poop smell in your nose you know its bad. She is much better now.

Now that I have the computer back it hopefully won't be so long until the next post. Maybe I can drag AshlynKay away from her Baby Einstein video and she can write a little something.
